Looking for a recomendation for unit 114-115.
To have the best chance to harvest a mature buck in 114 or 115 would it be best to pack into the high country?
I'll be accompanying my as she is the only tag holder in the house.
I just want to put her in the best position to harvest a mature buck.
Thank in in advance for any input. We will be there during the last 2 weeks of the season.

Same question - no
Similar question - yes
Simple and defined - yes again

Thank you for the concern!
She is also a peace officer like you! Thank you for the job you do protecting us all, day in and day out.

114 would be your best bet. I hunted with a buddy in 115 4 years ago and it looked like my local mall on saturday (hunters everywhere). If I ever went back to that unit i would take advantage of the fact that vehicular travel is limited in the wilderness area and hike in everyday or possibly hike in and camp for the duration of my hunt. You will run into alot of truck hunters and getting deep into the mt Moriah wilderness area would be your best bet for escaping the bs since alot of people now a days basically want a buck to jump into the thier truck and kill itself :)

Editing my previous post I have never seen hunters everywhere at my local mall lmao. I meant to write "people everywhere"

Thanks for the post. Just curious what date you were there and which hunt you were on when you saw people everywhere. Where there any other hunts going on at the same time? Is it possible that some of the people were tourists
Thanks again.

We were there for the archery mulie hunt. The cow elk archery hunt was under way as well and if I remember it was the last part of august. Get ahold of the blm office in ely Nevada and they should be able to help you out more. If it was me I would focus on the wilderness area In 114. Good luck.

Thank you for the feedback! Personally it's a much easier hunt if you can avoid the other people hunting the unit. My goal is to put my wife in an area with minimal pressure with hopes she can stock a shooter buck! It should be a great season!

Yea stay away from other hunters and you guys will be ok. Those units don't issue alot of tags but for some reason every one hunts in the same general area and I think it's because the ease of access in those areas. Good luck, she should end up with a good buck with the right amount of work put forward.
