"H wilderness"

I will be hunting region H for the first time this year. I will be hunting with my cousin who is a new hunter that I have been taking hunting for a few years. He is a Wyoming resident and I was wondering what peoples opinion on the wilderness areas vs the national forest bordering G. We will be backpack hunting for 9 days. Any help would be much appreciated. Private messages would be preffered rather than talking specific spots on an open forum my e mail is jepepper84@gmail.com thanks a bunch and good luck

Wilderness at times has less people due to NR not being able to hunt it without a resident/outfitter. From my experience there aren't any more deer in the wilderness compared to non-wilderness. I would definitely have your friend pick up a resident guide permit in the case you find an area within the wilderness you might like to try.

I will say it again. This is a stupid law and only keeps out the honest (non-tristate) hunters. This is what you get from wyoming outfitter and guide association. They are self serving and are hindering hunters, not helping them like they want you to believe. Think about this the next time you book with and outfitter in wyoming who is member of this group. If they get their way you wouldn't be able to hunt this state,or obtain a tag, without one if their members holding you by the hand. Just look no further than New Mexico to see what outfitter associations wants to do.

Isn't called outfitter welfare, Funny how you don't need a outfitter for fishing, bird watching, hiking, into the same wilderness. BUT now for hunting You have have a outfitter.
Should you have to have a outfitter for watching solar eclipse too, guess they missed out on that one $$$$$$$$$.
IT sure will be bad if that day comes the feds start asking for their cut of that outfitting money since a bunch of those hunts are on their/our land not just Wyoming State lands.
Who know maybe in the future they will see what a cash cow it could be and make everyone get a federal license to hunt federal land to kill State owned animals.

Since we aren't getting any grazing fees from those state owned animals.LOL

I have never understood that law and was completely blown away the first time I read about it. I cannot stand atvs and side by sides so everything I hunt is wilderness. I really enjoy wild places and the experience. I have never hunted and never will hunt with an outfitter especially in Wyoming. I hope someday soon they can change the rules and ease the pressure and spread out hunters. Thanks again for the info and good luck this season

I completely agree with the both of you. It's time this law gets squashed. It's another law pushed by the wyoming outfitter association. I urge all to write those in Cheyenne/GnF and tell them this law stinks. Today it's the wilderness law pushed by the outfitters association in wyoming, tomorrow it will be tags allocated to outfitters only. Look no further than NM and Nevada to see what I'm talking about. And don't get me started on all the land Sy (SnS/wyoga) and his cronies have tied up with their leases, that once were open to the diy guys in wyoming.
