TAG Bags recall - BlackOvis/Elk101 customers

Hey all, Kendall with BlackOvis. I spoke with Larry from TAG bags last week at length and what you may have been hearing or reading here is correct - there is a recall on the TAG bags as the fabric (not the seams) is failing on the last and most recent patch. Larry (owner of TAG who lives in...

    Utah Mt Goat Video

That's on my bucket list as well, but just a few mountains to the south (Timp). Can't wait to give it a go with a bow as well. Great video!

    Hunting Fool Sold

It has surely sold, the entire thing. Jeni (Garth's daughter) is still on board and a key part of the biz. Garth has some minimal involvement but has indeed sold his portion of the business. The new owners are indeed avid hunters and after meeting the main guy involved I was impressed by his...

    Trail Cam Photo

He's actually laughing because he knows that he won't be anywhere near that tree come Aug 18th! Seriously cool photo, it's so fun to see the expressions from elk. I have a couple of photos from this year that I swear the bulls are smiling at the camera.

    funky bull

The bull was shot by a guy named Rhett during the Montana archery hunt this last year. He was one of the Camofire.com Hunt Success photo contest runner up winners and that photo is on their Facebook page in the photo album. facebook.com/camofire if you want to see it. That's all I know about it.

    grim reaper broadheads

I killed a nice bull last year - got great penetration and huge hole. He ran 45 yards and piled up. My buddy has had 2 very quick kills on elk with the same 100 grain Grim Reaper broadhead. I've not been archery hunting for too long like many others, but the Grim Reaper is one of the best IMHO.

    Wasatch Water hole

Does it need to have an ATV road leading right up to it or are you willing to hike at least 100 yards? Do you require a guide to said location or are you ok on your own in the mountains? Just trying to get a better idea on accessibility so I can recommend a few spots.

    Antlerless draw

I got lucky, 2nd year in a row. Makes me wonder, how many of you had zero points and if you did have zero points did you apply to a unit that had better odds of drawing or were you applying to a unit you really want to hunt (despite the drawing odds for zero points) and will just gather up a...

    TOP 3 HARDCORE BOWHUNTER

Hey zrider2 - what's the deal with you hating on Anthony Dixon so much every time a guy posts him to his top 3-5? Sure, I had heard the hype and even met him a couple of times and he seemed a bit arrogant, but last year at the Bowcast he was our smoker round judge and I saw a different side of...

    BEST SIGHT TO BUY

another +1 for Black Gold. I picked up the Ascent last year and added a 4th pin from the standard 3. The site it bombproof and really gathers in the light. Both elk I shot last year (bull and cow tag for the same area) were within 15-20 minutes of no more shooting light after the sun had set...

    bowcast at the bird

I went last year on Saturday and thought it was awesome. Perhaps it was beginners luck (2nd year archer) but I came home with all my arrows, even did the smoker round and finished with 2 arrows on that. Lines got to be a bit problematic as the day went on but our group hit it first thing in the...

    Winter Kill Outragious!!!!Utah

    >Utah needs more dedicated shed hunters >out tromping the hills to >keep an eye on things. We need more shed "hunters" like we need another 29 micro units! The shed hunters I've met are zealots who should be stripped of their hunting opportunities. Chasing and harassing deer/elk in the heart...

    First Bull

awesome bull my friend. great to see all your preparations pay off. it doesn't matter if you shoot an elk 5 miles into the deep or 50 yards from the truck. You were prepared and out there. Again, congrats!

    A couple good bulls...

Unit 10 should be tested for steroid laced grasses and water. Either that or doping. Holy smokes! It's absolutely insane how big those bulls get on unit 10!

Yet another First Bull DOWN story

I never thought I'd have the patience for a tree stand either, and now I'm in Canada hunting Whitetail from stands. It's putting me over the edge! As for the score, I'm more curious than anything. The hunt was surreal and the bull is a monster in my book. If I never shoot another bull as big, I...

Yet another First Bull DOWN story

Hah! I think that will certainly be the case. I'm currently in Canada hunting whitetail and we saw a HUGE bull today with a posse of cows and I think I'm going to go purchase an elk tag as we'll be here until the middle of next week. Me <--- addicted to archery elk.

Yet another First Bull DOWN story

LAST EDITED ON Sep-17-10 AT 05:10PM (MST)[p]Seems like there are a lot of the "First Bull" stories going around and I'm fortunate to be counted in the bunch. Here's my tale x-posted from another forum: Well, it finally came together for me last night. I really can't believe how it all...

Utah Bulls on Trail Camera #2

I used Trophy Rock last year but sadly two spots I put rocks in I had dang cattle come in and DESTROY the rocks and the surrounding area. Made me pretty sad to see the area trampled. I did have some great success with two other locations with both elk and deer coming in, but more elk than...

what was your funest shot at the bird

Just about every shot on the Smoker round was fun but my favorite was the last target of the smoker - the elk at 97 yards. Had to back pin and still got a money kill shot (luck). The bedded elk on the elite course was pretty sweet too. Managed to come home with the same arrows I started with...

    Bowcast at the Bird.....???

Don't know about those that went, but I REALLY enjoyed this event and part of me wishes it would happen more than once a summer. It was a little crowded on Saturday, more so than I think they anticipated, but I'll be there next year for sure. The Smoker Course was worth the $20, IMHO. I paid...

RE: FINALLY GOT ARCHERY ELK WASATCH TAG NEED HELP ON GOOD AREAS MUCH APPRECIATED THANKS I've seen some dandy elk already on the Wasatch unit. Last month while turkey hunting near Midway I saw a bull that was already working on his 5ths and he was very wide. I've seen a couple of bulls near...

Expandables VS Fixed Blades for Elk

WapitiBob - thanks for the reply about the F15. Great insights and I feel more confident to continue to shoot them this year. I wonder - did you remove the blades for target practice? I ended up bending a blade from repeated target shooting and had to replace one.

    Phavant Archery Elk

My buddy took a 387 bull on the archery hunt there two years ago and last year guided a friend of his on the Pavant but he blew a 20 yard shot at a 400+ bull. I'll see if I can get some beta for you and will PM you with it.
