Call longer maybe hour.my son. Got a cat the first 3 times he went out.he only shot 1.his friends got the others . One he an his friend snuck within 62 yards of 4. Moms a 3 kittens 15 months old. They shot the momma. I the kits were full grown..the next one they tracked it. Came out of cave 8ft...

i hunted g a few years back.great country saw some good bucks. was looking for a monster.talked to a gie when i bought hay from him. he flew a plane over said he saw a big one beded at top .gave me general area i rode horse plus pack horse got camp set. looked that night some didnt see much...

brother in law lifetime resident of montana 66 years saw 33 elk that were killed in rubies 2 were eat on rest left.they saw them one night were going to hunt a bull there next day. found them all next day dead. he has hunted the rubies his whole life.yes wolves do kill large numbers of wild elk.

buy the best you can afford. i have swaro i love them. got steiner nikon leupold.inever take steiner nik leu out of house.my 3 an 6 year old grandsons play hunting with them. great optics save you lots of walking.good luck/

go with 80 i got 20x60x80 i love it.you can see an judge deer better than other scopes. when i first got mine my son was looking at buck antelope i asked can yousee him good he said i can count the hairs on his nut sack lol.good luck

save your money an go swaro i did glad i did wish i would of saved longer an bought swaro 20 years ago. you will never regret saving a little longer to have a better scope i have 20x60x80 an 10x42s.i got a pair of steiners 10x50 they never leave the house.

what grain of rocks were you using? i can only find 6 or 7 grain rocks maybe i need 44 grain.

i wish i would have bought swaros when i was younger, i would have more big heads one the wall. you can see so much better an pick out stuff in brush better.im 58 wish i had them in my 30s. can't cover as much ground now.now eyes not as good as when i was younger.i see stuff now other's can't...

hunted that area a couple times.great country got a 28 inch with 9 inch drop tine. saw lots of elk some really big bulls.go for it if you can. i hunted around winnett an west to the highway that goes to malta.watched elk on some of the little islands in river. it was kinda cool good luck.
