My buddy and his 2013 NM public land barb, lucky 1st timer shot it after a long stalk, 270wsm, somewhere around 100yd shot straight up, i watched the whole thing unfold in the binos, 31"er here with donkey show mass, i guessed him at 29" a mile away, glad i was wrong.

good analysis. There are some whoppers for sure and most of them are nocturnal. 200" is very possible with a rifle. I apply every year for archery. I know where those big bucks hang.

camo may not be an important part of long range rifle hunting but i think a nice pattern that breaks up the outline is almost necessary for bowhunting, predator hunting, and turkey hunting. Sitka has a nice pattern but it is xpensive. I like the kuiu stuff it is a little bit less xpensive.

I am from burque Taylor Ranch and i currently live in Farmington. I'm trying like heck to move back but I've got a steady job here now. Farmington ain't to bad once you get pass the meth & scenery. Good luck in burque its closer to the Big Bulls down south yet close enough to big muleys up north.

Heres my Jan deer I support a 90/10 split and overhaul of LO tag system. Lets hope the lawmakers don't screw anything up too bad. I've had good luck the past few years with drawing tags but I do know plenty of people who have not been hunting in quite some time.

i've been hunting NM for 20 plus years and have never seen a wild lion anywhere. One of my goals is to take one with an arrow without dogs...i know, prob impossible. Congrats on a wicked story and pics. That pic with the red eyes staring into your soul gave me the chills.
