I'll be on the same hunt this year. Last year I was on the first hunt as well and the year before was on the last hunt. Last year there was little hunting pressure where I was. It was the same place as the previous year, where there was a lot of traffic around the trail heads. But as previously said get in far enough and you wont see anyone.
Two years ago I passed on a 320ish bull on day two. Had him at 32 yards and couldnt get him stopped in my clearing. I guess i should have shot him on the walk, but it didnt occur to me at the time. This would be my only chance that year. I saw bulls everyday just couldnt get into the correct position.
Last year I went in with a buddy. He had the tag. There was far less pressure in the area we were in but the bulls were not quite fired up yet and we didnt take horse to help get in or out. We hunted from trail heads everyday. We saw elk everyday. And got ourselves into position a couple times but didnt make it happen.(I'll let him fill in the details if he wants)
Ill PM you my phone number. Call me if you want to talk.
