Hey Guys,
I've been gone a while.
I sent my old computer off with my kid for a few months.
Anyway, I had some kind of year.
First I took a decent Blacktail buck with my bow.
My second hunt was a high country blacktail hunt where I found this decent four point.
I glassed him across the canyon from my spike camp.
I took out my rangefinder and ranged him at 668 yards, I knew my exact bullet drop and dumped him with my first shot.
Upon him falling down, a buck of monsterous proportions stands up out his bed and bounces away, I was sick.
Guess that's hunting.
October rolled around and found me in Oregon.
Opening day My nephew took this nice 28" wide buck.
My kid is here posing with it in this photo.
A couple of days later, We were doing a deer drive off this big ridge.
We are nearly to the road, when my kid whispers "Dad Look!"
The two largest Muleys that I have seen in my life are sneaking through the timber away from my brother in law.
I mean these bucks were real toads...30"+, High, Wide, and Heavy.
I have to run about 40 yards to a clearing where I can get a shooting lane, just then the bucks spot another member of our hunting party and head back in the other direction.
I jog back in the other direction to where I can get a shot.
The bucks come trickling through at about 100 yards, I have a tiny window to shoot through.
I'm huffing and puffing, shooting offhand, and proceed to shoot right over the biggest buck I have ever seen in the wild.
I don't thik I will get over this for some time.
Oh, what could have been.
I'm saddened that my year is over for hunting, but look forward to seeing all of you guys and your successes.
On the other hand, I've had some incredible Salmon fishing trips with my kid.
