Running through the approved outfitters for 2012-2013. Wondering how 19 got through the requirement of majority owner being a 3 year NM resident?

WB......Just hoping that someone could explain what appears to be a direct contradiction to "everyone's" favorite legislation from 2011.

Being NM they walked into MVD office and walked out with drivers lic.......sure see alot of AZ plates seasonally around here with clients.

On the NMGFD website it states that majority owner be a NM resident for the 3 years prior to application. The approved outfitters listed include MI/MO/TX/CO/AZ...and TN!!!

LAST EDITED ON Feb-14-12 AT 00:53AM (MST)[p]The contact doesn't have to be the majority owner.
The contacts mailing address doesn't have to be a NM address.

A large number weren't approved so there appears to be some due diligence taking place.

LAST EDITED ON Feb-14-12 AT 08:07AM (MST)[p]It is my understanding there are some lawsuits in the works to stop this provision. Talking with an outfitter (who shall remain nameless) that has some legal proceedings underway and is hoping he can still work there this fall. Expecting a ruling this week, waiting to hear something.

We might be waiting for the same lawsuit. The outfitter I have worked with in the past is also waiting on a lawsuit. We hope to hear soon.

You only have to spend two days with an "outfitter" in the field to meet the requirements. I bet a bunch of guys get their license so they can charge a nominal fee, spend a few days hunting (probably with buddies) and increase their nonresident friends odds of drawing tags.

I think this whole thing was a mistake. But I could be wrong. We'll see.
