Got it done again on opening day this year. After a late night finding somewhere to camp and hunt the next morning after running into two locked gates, we got started at around 5:45 AM. The wind was making it tough to glass in the morning. Hands were way too cold to do anything. We walked 8 miles in a 2 square mile section between 6 AM and 1 PM while seeing nothing but deer and a few rams across some private land. I decided to pull out of there and try to find our way onto that area as it was where I originally planned on hunting. We made it all the way back to the truck and I looked up on the ridge at what I thought were deer. Turns out they were sheep and it was just too perfect to hold out for a bigger one. After a quick stalk and a 90-100 yard shot, we were in for a 600 yard pack out. The shortest I have ever had on a sheep hunt. This is the 4th time in 4 years of hunting sheep that I have harvested on the 1st day hunting. With graduation imminent and the possibility of moving to a different state, I am really happy to finish up this hunting season with a harvest. Hope everyone else's seasons have went well.
