I just can't get over what a great shot my husband is. He has been looking for a four point all year and finally came across one yesterday morning. Man, it was cold! 10* on the mountain. As most of you know, shooting up hill and in cold weather can change the way your bullett travels and drops. He had to make many adjusments!
This buck stood on top of the mountain all morning just glancing all around him. It looked like he was saying, "Ya thats right, king of the mountain... come get me!"
So we decided we would do just that. We watched him for 30 minutes, he just stood there looking around, never moved and the sun was coming up behind him. We were going to loose him in the sun! Crunch time! How far is he... 700 yards(thankyou Lecia!) Any wind... none. Slope degree... 30% up hill. Adjust the scope... crap, the sun! Hurry..... he's moving! Ah crap! He's coming down hill, re adjust! Ok, now he's at 650 yards. Alright... deep breath, in-out.... BANG! He wobbles... walks forward...BANG! Drops! Stand up look around.. holy cow! What a rush! Now the walk up hill... after about 25 minutes, we get to him. What a nice buck! The work begins. Ah, forget the draging work.... go get the horse! Thank you Missy for draging him off the mountain! Saved two backs for aching. Both shots right behind the shoulder! Sorry, didn't have the camera on the mountain, only garage photos. Man! I love hunting!
What a morning... here is the "king".
