My buddy had watched 4 bucks through the summer, with the biggest being what he thought was 29 wide. Opening morning of the muzzy hunt, he was a few minutes late getting to his spot, and watched as the big one crossed the saddle 300 yards away. To far for a shot, he could only watch as another hunter killed the buck. It was a laid out 29 1/2 inch 5x5.
The next morning he was there again as one of the smaller bucks crossed the saddle. This time, he was in position and made a 150 yard shot, sending the shockwave bullet home.
He said it was the happiest he's been in a while, and gave him a sense of pride packing his trophy out of the hills by himself. It is his best muzzy buck.
