NVG, you obviously didn't see my post over on bowsite. A lot of people are getting sick and tired of everyone jumping all over some guy every time a picture is posted of an outstanding buck or bull. All some people want to do it figure out what's wrong with the situation, never look at the bright side. Too many people are nothing but negative, and I know from private converstations I've had that more than a few people have grown very weary of reading all the negative stuff.
It seems that if someone kills an outstanding animal that some people have to figure out anything and everything that could possbile be wrong with the picture. Did he purchase a governors tag to do it, did he purchase a landowner tag that some guys can't afford, did he shoot it during a special season when the rest of us aren't allowed to hunt, did he use the "right" weapon, was the mountain high enough, did he have the right color shirt on, how long are his arms, did he do it on his own or did he hire a guide, did he have too many guides, was it behind locked gates, did they use an airplane to scout, did they use radios while hunting, were there any commercial airline flights that might have gone over the unit while hunting and did those pilots radio the bulls location from 30,000 feet, does the picture look legit or was it photoshopped, does the picture look like it might be somewhere that he shouldn't have been, why are the ears drooping, boy his eyes sure look glazed over, picture's kinda dark musta shot it after legal hours, were any building within 10 miles, how long is his member, what hand does he wipe with, did he dig a hole and bury it after he dumped or did he just walk off, did he park his truck in the right spot, did his horses eat native grasses, did they poop on the habitat, why doesn't his horse wear a diaper, ETCETERA, ETCETERA, ETFREAKINGCETERA!!!!!!!!
I'm not the only person who reads these posts that has grown weary of all the negative perceptions of some people who have to tear down each and every person who takes an outsized specimen, especially when it was shot on some special tag. I figure that some of our members might as well join HSUS, since they're already saving them advertising dollars by spewing so much anti-hunting venom on their own that HSUS doesn't need to spend the money themselves. Hell, while they're at it, go ahead and join PETA too!
At least a few people would prefer to see some positive comments when someone posts a great animal. Perhaps you're not one of them, hopefully you'll think about which type you want to be.
As I said over on bowsite, I have a close friend who has purchased a Nevada landowner elk tag, and I'll be helping him on his hunt. He's hoping to kill the best bull of his lifetime. I'll be damned if I'd ever post anything on here or anywhere else about his hunt as some guys will rip my buddy to shreds without knowing any details. Those type of people don't care about the hunt, they're only interested in tearing down others. They're just jealous whiners as far as I'm concerned. My buddies elk hunt will be fair chase in every sense of the word. Hopefully he'll kill a Nevada giant bigger than any elk most of us will ever see. BUT, nobody will ever know anything about it on the WWW, as he doesn't own a computer and I won't be sharing news of his success.
NVG, if my views qualify me as a rectal orifice in your book, so be it. On the other hand, I'll sign off with the same advice I left on bowsite. If you don't like what I've said "Go thee forth, thyself; and procreate thyself!"
