Here is another great Saskatchewan buck coming in the first week of the season. He grosses over 200
I started my stalk it felt like it took me forever but before I knew it I could see my brother after I rounded a big hill. I could see the hand signals coming and with a couple land marks I made before I left, he put me right on top of the buck 40 yards ? 30 ? 20 now I'm right on top of him. Here is a feeling that is unreal - I can see his rack sticking up out of the alfalfa, its hot, no wind, I'm out of breath, heart is pounding, my mouth is so dry when I try and swallow my tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth, the adrenaline is pumping and I'm so excited that I'm here.
I try to calm down and catch my breath, I take my quiver off my bow and take an extra arrow out, neither deer has moved an inch so I try and whistle but nothing comes out, hence the dry mouth so I try kissing noises and nothing I didn't know how much longer I could sit so I started to talk to the deer, ?Hey buck, Hey buck stand-up? I did this a few times and nothing then I held my bow up over my head and waved it back and forth making the kissing noises and the little one got up. I drew my bow and held for a minute or 2 but felt like 5 and released it down as the big guy wouldn't stand up. The small buck starts to turn his back on me and walks away and I see the big antlers wave back and forth I draw, the buck stands quartering broad side to me, uphill with the alfalfa covering his bottom third. I squeeze my trigger, my arrow hits its mark high and drops him back into his bed instantly. I have another one nocked as he tried to get up making no mistake I put this one through both lungs, it was all over in seconds as he laid there motionless.
Don't die dreaming
DIE TRYING!
