Just barely got him back from the taxidermist even though he's from Nov 2009. He's 30" even from cheater to cheater and was a young buck, maybe 3-4.
He's the biggest I've killed so far, but I felt just a tiny bit of regret that he was taken before his prime. I think he would have added a lot more mass and probably some more extras in another 4 or so years.
I actually missed this buck the second day of the hunt trying to shoot him through the thick trees. I shot him at about 75 yards on the third day after I jumped him from his bed. At the time, I was only 90% sure it was the cheater buck I'd missed the prior day and didn't know he had more extras until I walked up to him.
I actually think I saw this buck the first 20 minutes of the hunt when I caught 5 bucks all bunched together at the edge of the trees. I could see horns everywhere, but I was hunting by myself and didn't have a spotter to help distinguish any shooters.
