LAST EDITED ON Jul-20-08 AT 07:16PM (MST)[p]In my 7 years hunting the unit i shoot 6 bulls in between 315 and 340, my last one being on the rifle hunt last year where i killed the biggest elk i saw that was in the 340's. I'm just saying, 6 years ago the unit was great, lately not so much. 66a has people running all over it lately on the archery hunt, its a joke. Yes i'm speaking that the average hunter will have a very difficult time finding and getting within range of a 300" bull on this unit on the archery hunt, i'm not trying to brag but i consider myself a good hunter, and have 6 good GENERAL idaho elk mounted in the basement, 2 B&C Deer(1 shoot with bow) to prove it (all elk off 66a, and all these animals while i'm just barely over 22 years of age) and trust me all are well of the beating path, mostly shoot on Baldy and a couple on the front side of caribou just west of North West of TIN Cup. I'm just saying if you consider this one of the best units in the state (in 2008), idaho must really blow. 6 years ago, it was amazing, not so much the last couple years, you ask anyone of your buddies how the last couple years have been, you will get the same response that i gave. Sorry buddy, and yes, we are moving units this year, thats 3 less utards in your guy's hair so be happy! You can keep thinking i'm a crappy hunter and drive the roads all day, but i'm just saying it how i see it.
And elkdreamer, i put in for the unit because i had a very sought after colorado deer tag last year and knew i would have to spend all my time scouting for it, i put in for 66a because i knew the area first of all, and i did not expect to draw at all, i was stunned when i saw the results
