Hello all, upon caping my bucks head, I decided to do a European mount. At that time I began to take the back plate off of the skull that attaches to the neck along with the lower jaw. As soon as that plate popped off, out of the nasal cavity came these 3/4 inch long larvae (probably around 8 of them). I was so shocked at that moment and in disbelief I just starred trying to register what exactly I was witnessing. After finding some other hunters another day in the week I showed them the picture and asked if they had seen anything like this. They of course did and said it can kill the deer if it gets bad enough. Anybody else come across this and how common is it? Can it in fact kill the deer? And most importantly is the meat ok? As soon as I youtubed bot fly I came across these horror stories of bites and what not so it made me wonder about eggs and if the meat in fact is ok. We have already cut up and packaged everything and never noticed anything wrong, I just wanted to make sure. Any thoughts or experience with these assholes?
