Worthless trash fish, or hardfighting sportfish?

I love sight casting with a 4 weight flyrod for carp, to me its almost more fun than any other type of fishing.

4 weight? what X tippet? you are a brave man putting a 4 wt on the line for a carp....

I'd cut off and lose a 5 buck lure to avoid touching one of those ugly things.

I shoot and release when they're on the surface. Fun times.

There's a place on the middle fork of the Feather river near Clio that is loaded with 3-6 lb carp and i've had decent luck during evenings in middle of the summer catching them on my 5 weight with brown buggers and 4x tippet.

They fight well. Different breed of carp than i see in my home waters. Those over there are shorter but fatter. I release them as others fish sport for them as well. It's fun to get a bunch of hookups on heavy fish after going several days with not much other than the usual dink trout.
