I am hoping to draw colorado's Unit 33 for Archery elk this season. this will be my first season hunting elk, and am trying to figure out as much as I possibly can. I chose this area because it has an area of high elevation in case the weather stays warm (hot), and also some low elevation stuff if they start to move down. However, within these general areas, I am not sure what I should key in on. I would suspect that hot and dry weather would lend to covering a wallow, or possibly a trail leading to a wallow. what other kinds of habitat features should I look for.
Do elk feed on browse or do they prefer grasses? I should be getting a better lay of the land before hunting season, so I might actually find "my bull" then.
Thanks for any info in advance.
