I thought I'd place this story under the mule deer section since it does have to do w/ mule deer . In the general hunting section I have been asking for some help/advise pertaining too getting a fishing license for my 98 yr old grandpa who is one of only a couple people alive today who survived the sinking of the Indianapolis . Back in the mid 50's , my grandpa had taken a trip back East going coming from Oregon to do some business . After his business trip he was driving back to Oregon and was going through some pass on the borders of Idaho and wyoming when suddenly his truck broke down in the middle of a snow storm . After a little bit of work he gave up on trying to fix his truck, it just never wanted to work for him . Long story short , he was stranded there for 9 days, no water . He had survived this incident in sub zero weather by shooting a 38" in giant mule deer through his truck window w/ his 30-30 . A Ranger had found my grandpa there stranded after 9 days . Even back then wildlife officers did not even recognize great mule deer antlers as trophy's .
