I am a NR of Idaho and have purchased an OTC elk A tag and a general season deer tag. I would love some help with a starting point in either units 66 or 69. I am unfamiliar with public, national forest, and private land in Idaho in general. I have spent the last 9 years of my career in the infantry and I am certain of my ability to get off the beaten path to up my odds. Just looking for some good advice and a starting point. Never been in those units, I would go to the nationalforestmapstore.com purchase the caribou national forest map. Then mytopo.com purchase your unit map and if you can swing it get a gps unit and an Idaho chip. Start studying the google earth. The maps should show in general public / private.
