LAST EDITED ON Oct-18-13 AT 10:27AM (MST)[p]How late into the season have you seen rutting activities on the wasatch extended? I have heard the cows go through two to three estrus cycles? Perhaps I can still find a pocket of rutting elk? Most the elk I saw early in the season are in areas that are open to rifle hunting.... I am hoping that I can get out and find them after all the rifle hunts end... Any chance that there might still be some rutting in the extended region after the rifle deer?

I am curious how most wasatch extended hunters hunt elk post rut? my post rut elk experience is limited but I have hunted them a few times post rut. It seems the big bulls isolate themselves and try and recover from the rut in fertile areas? Hunting them post rut is more like spot and stalk mule deer hunting.

Do all of you find this to be the case? What are your post rut strategies?

I find myself getting out in the WF by myself a lot recently...

If anyone is interested in getting out shoot me a PM. I am always happy to get out and share with and learn from other archers.
