Ten years ago my son and I did an 8 day backpack fishing trip over the top of Wyoming's Windrivers. We ate fish and Mountain House for most of our meals, and we didn't see another soul, which was incredible.
On our way back out (25 miles) we planned to get back over the top and camp, then hike back to the trailhead. However, after getting over the top we still had a fair amount of daylight and thinking about eating a hamburger at the end we just pushed on.
We didn't get back to the truck until after eleven and by the time we got to Pinedale all eating establishments were shut down...no juicy hamburger!
BUT the next morning we found a cafe with breakfast and plate sized pancakes. It was way better than the Hamburger we had envisioned and thinking about it still makes my mouth water.
What is your favorite back to civilization meal?
