Good Dilemma-- Monster Deer

So I've got a dilemma, but it's a good one to have. I found a monster shed the other day. I want the other side very very VERY bad. If anybody knows of who might have the match, please let me know. All I will say is that it was found along the front range in CO. I think I might have met the guy who could have the other side. Is it completely wrong of me to go try and buy it off of him?? What would one side of a deer like this sell for? I don't want to rip him off, but I'm not rich! Let me know what you guys think and if you have had an experience like this. Here is a picture of the shed. I'll post a score later. I want to double check my numbers because you guys will not believe it!! It's unreal. Any guesses?

sick! absolutely SICK! that is two sheds in one. i love it! i dont know what the other side would look like but you have to ask your self what it would be worth to you. and then if you could aford it!
 
Man that is awesome!! I bet the other guys wants your side just as bad, assuming its been found. If the other side is as big as your side I'd pay quite a bit for it. Good luck matching it up. I'd bet it scores over 110"
 
Wished I had to worry about that dilemma. That is a huge single. Congrats. Hope you to can meet up and put that set together.

Nice horn. Whats Up with your hand??? Your Index and middle fingers are E.T. Like and I can see 6 fingers total. Am I wrong? Did you add some inches to this horn? If not then thats awesome, the pic looks funny to me.
 
Thanks Guys. Needless to say, I'm ecstatic about this. I'm definitely going to be hitting it hard looking for the other side. I'll post a couple more pictures when I get them on the computer. All said and done, I put him right around 123". I wasn't going to say a score, but o well. You can hate if you want to...Because I got the horn! haha.

Another guy picked up a set close to this one. Hopefully I can get pictures for you guys.

DrHorn- I had not seen this buck with his headgear. I was totally blown away, because I have been watching this area very closely. I wish I had pictures of him. I'm going to be asking around.

Hogg- Yes you are wrong. If you're concerned check back for the new pictures later.

That is the find of a lifetime. Personally I'd pay quite a bit. Later on down the road when your 60 years ols looking at that mounted set on your wall the price won't mean a thing. fatrooster.
 
That is why I pound the hills. Sheds like that are what makes it all worth while! Sweet find! I hope you can locate that match. I know if it was me with the match I'd rather keep it instead of sell it. But I do share sheds. Better deal for both shed hunters. One guy gets the matched set for a while and then the other guy gets to have them.
 
Thanks again guys. Yes this is pretty motivating. I was about to give up this year after seeing a lot of other people out and not finding anything after 6 hours of hiking. I'm back in the game now!

Fatrooster- I would also pay quite a bit if the other guy was willing to sell. Hopefully I see him out there again.

BcBoy- that's a good idea. The only reason that I think he would sell is because he found a set that would score close to this but it was much more unique.
 
Meat...I saw that deer on many occasions.
I tried to get pics of him but as luck would have it, he only showed his face at dark. I was able to pick up a typical 194" set from a buck that I had seen him with a few times. Ill ask around and see if any of the guys I hunt with have seen or heard of that side being located.
 
Man I wish some people would just enjoy people's success and quit wasting time trying to discredit them. 6 fingers? Meat- great find, once in a life time, totally believable especially in CO. That Hogg dude must of missed all the pics of the CO Gov buck that had a few inlines and scored 250. Jealousy motivates some to make stupid comments. Meat- again, great find and +1 to fatrooster.
 
Thanks for all the nice comments. I thought there would be more negative people so we're doing good. Today I went out hoping to find the other side...I did not find it, BUT I found another side to a 230+" buck!!! This horn scores 103" This has been an unreal weekend. My biggest shed before this weekend was a 165" set. Hopefully I can get a match before too long.

HOLY HORN BATMAN!!!! Thats two great sides that you have, another great set that you saw the other guy had and the previous poster above that also got a great set. Thats it, I'm moving to Colorado!

Hopefully I can find some more out there. But it's back to work tomorrow, so we will see...

Yoyak- Yes the big 4 scores 103". His mass is awesome!
 
That's awesome!!!! If I was you, I'd be taking the next few days off work and living in the hills...potentially finding the match to either of those bucks would be incredible!
 
A couple of you have seen this HODAD when he was still packing. Just how big was the other side? Width? Gross score? What a tremendous find! Congrats on both sheds.
Meat, what is the first mass measurement on the typical. What a gorilla!!

YBO- If I remember I think the first mass measurement is 6 2/8 and the real killer is the 4th mass measurement at 6 4/8.
 
I finally stopped by the guys house who I thought might have found the other side... And sure enough he did!! IT was crazy holding this set together and of course I forgot to take my camera. His other side was a little bit weaker, but overall it's still insane!! Both of us knows what it is worth, so I doubt I will ever have a chance to mount the set in my house. It's sad but awesome at the same time to know I'll at least have pictures. I will get you guys pictures the next time I talk to this guy. Hopefully not too long before I get that opportunity. I can finally sleep a little better at night.
 
Thats a bummer meat. Was hoping you'd come up with it. Did he have the match to your 100 incher? Anyway he'd take it for trade?

I would see if the guy with the other side would be willing to trade for the shirt. Might be worth asking.

I would do the same thing. What would you do? "A lot of money" is a relative term. I doubt they would get $100,000 or even $1,000 for the set. $500 wouldn't even get my attention for that find and I wouldn't pay $10 to buy one side. Call me crazy.
 
The implication is that it is worth a bunch of money. So sign a deal and split the proceeds and use it for something worthwhile. Or, each keep your sides and always have the antler to hold and fondle and show your buddies. Personally, I would go for the money which will go alot further in life than a silly deer antler. Just sayin...
 
WOW! Those sheds are huge! The shirt on the other hand, has got to go. Soak up some oil with that thing in the garage! Just kidding, and no offense! I have picked up truck loads and truck loads of deer antlers in my shed hunting career, but none have been like that. One of these days, the planets will align, and the Horn Gods will bless me!

How's that? Because I would sell the large piece of bone that is the only known bone to grow outside of a mammals body?

I'm not the one who indicated that the sheds could not be re-united because they have soooo much value. And I am not the one who started the business of high dollar values on antlers.

Just watch it whipper-snapper...I'm old enough to be your grandpa and I'm cranky too. And put your "big gun" down Clint...

Its just to many people out there trying to make a buck or 2 on sheds and it just pisses me off.

Ahh yes my favorite 6 point configuration plus some extra. Don't sell and don't buy. The value of the shed is that you found it.
 
Get a few more of those 100"er and stack them up and do some trading.

WOW!!!! I went back today to get pictures of the set. It is seriously unreal holding this set together. I am humbled and blown away to have this opportunity. Sorry if I am a little crazy, but it is seriously surreal. Finally... I'm proud to say, I Hope you enjoy the pictures.

Those are giant sheds man and I wish I could see that deer alive! Wonder how big he will be next year?

Although it would be nice to have both sides I don't think I would personally buy the other side to a shed I found, nothing against others doing so, just not me. Too much money for a shed for me. Assuming the guy would want what I think a shed that size is going for nowadays. I would look at replicas.

The side he found has that cool extra brow tine but I still like your side better by quite a bit.

Cosmic- The antlers dropped within 100 yds of each other but he carried the right for 2 days longer.

Appleman- with the antlers alone they score 231 5/8. So with 20" spread credit they would be 251 5/8. A little less than I originally thought and less than they look. Still Insane though.
 
His shortest beam is longer than 20" isn't it?

I probably would have thought higher in score too, but when they get that big who cares about score. Just sit back and drool at their size.
 
Yes, I think both main beams were 23 and change. Never seeing him on hoof we went conservative and used 20" as the spread.

But like you said, He is a world class deer and I don't care what the score comes out to.

Unfortunately I only own the right side at this point. If I can somehow acquire the other side, I might get them mounted. I have no clue what I am going to do yet though.
