Here we go again. Website crashed, shocker! Such a clean way of doing things Idaho. It’s like you try to make things as difficult as possible. When are you going to wake up and start doing it right?
I'm in the same boat, just getting my solo tag is a long shot. A buddy of mine is used to hunting in a group of 3 and hasn't been able to do so in Idaho for a few years now. I was hoping that would turn some people off. Obviously not the case.I agree NR should be a draw. I hunt solo but this really has to suck for folks that hunt as a group. Guessing the odds of even a pair of guys getting through for tags are low.
I don't mind getting put in a que and doing a real time draw, but if you're going to do it that way, you damn well better have a system that can support the traffic.funny last year when i said the same thing about a NR draw pretty much every response was flaming me. figured a couple cycles of this will get the masses to see some logic
Should be a “convenience credit”Convenience fee?? Hahahaha.
3,800th on the phone. 15,751 online in que. After the crash that is...The app started working for me about the same time my computer did. Both put me about 20,000
I think they should leave it as is. I love the nonresident whine fest every year. “All the nonresident tags sold out in 2 hrs” as there are tags available into February and March. It’s kinda fun ?NR should be a draw
Yea that’s gonna help, smh, do you not notice the influx of new residents? I mean it’s not a secret that Utah and Idaho are growing like crazyhow about just bag any non resident hunting at all and increase resident fees to cover the difference. i bet it wouldn't be a real tough sell around here...
I'll throw in my support as a nonresident if ID residents stop hunting my unit and crowding my local shooting range.how about just bag any non resident hunting at all and increase resident fees to cover the difference. i bet it wouldn't be a real tough sell around here...
Only for us suckers online. The 800 number line is moving, their selling tags at the counters...crappy way to do it for sure but it is what it isLooks like they have paused the sale of tags again.
how about just bag any non resident hunting at all and increase resident fees to cover the difference. i bet it wouldn't be a real tough sell around here...
Did you get in at 10:00?800 on the phone in front of me....
If you go on Idaho F&G Facebook page they are saying the whole system is down. There are guys standing in line in person and it's a no go there too.Only for us suckers online. The 800 number line is moving, their selling tags at the counters...crappy way to do it for sure but it is what it is
When did you log in. I logged in at 930 and I was the 21000 person in line...I'm sitting 25th in line and it has been paused for almost an hour................... GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Yeah, i called just before 10 because I was having issues getting logged in online.Did you get in at 10:00?
Wait a minute. You hashed out $h!# but spelled out the queen of foul words?!what kinda **** show is idaho ******* running...
The tag update page crashed. They had a whiteboard at one of the offices but it is not being updated. My first choice was gone but got second choice.I'm calling it "walking the green mile of Idaho"... credit your source when you use that, its great!! lol
My guy is stuck in place at first one still. I like a dumb ass waited until 9:30 to log in, coudlt for over 40 minutes so go last in line at 24K and change... I' luckily called and stayed ont he line so im 1341 on there. Wasn't there an old list of stuff that was sold out or how many tags were still available? I cant find that, but maybe nothing sold out yet
the "fall back" plan is exactly what needed gotten rid of.Years ago I really liked hunting Idaho. Late unlimited Muzzy hunts in the draw. And over the counter archery hunts to use as a fall back plan. To bad those days are over. Now I will only put in for moose.
I say if your a resident you should have to wait in line for a number, and then when they call your number you have 10 seconds to name every county in Idaho and if you don’t they won’t sell you a tagthe "fall back" plan is exactly what needed gotten rid of.
i say NR tags go to OIL draw. you can hunt here once, then your done
Diamond Creek A was also sold out.Message last updated: 1:45 PM MDT
SOLD OUT
Nonresident White-tailed Deer
* 37
Nonresident General Deer
* 20A, 21, 78
Nonresident Elk
* BIG DESERT B, LEMHI A, PIONEER B, SAWTOOTH A, SMOKY-BENNETT B, TEX CREEK A
There was one Muzz Elk tag NR for Lemhi left yesterday for this year...Years ago I really liked hunting Idaho. Late unlimited Muzzy hunts in the draw. And over the counter archery hunts to use as a fall back plan. To bad those days are over. Now I will only put in for moose.
As long as residents are good with a 100% increase in fees...that would work. I read where 60% of IDFG budget was from NR sales. Unless that number is bogus I supposethe "fall back" plan is exactly what needed gotten rid of.
i say NR tags go to OIL draw. you can hunt here once, then your done
can Utards count to 10?I say if your a resident you should have to wait in line for a number, and then when they call your number you have 10 seconds to name every county in Idaho and if you don’t they won’t sell you a tag
Plenty of OTC tags in several western states. We haven't officially seen the end of jack chit.We have official seen the end of OTC tags for Nonresidents in Western States.
Web site did that not me...Wait a minute. You hashed out $h!# but spelled out the queen of foul words?!
So because you are unable to get the tag you want you’re going to poach? Or am I missing your reference?Here it is 702 PM and Im still 10000 in line...Time to break out the spotlight this year....
Jeez, you must of had insanely high expectations. I was 5300 and got my 3rd choice deer.swing in a miss...I was number 5k-ish...got in and the zones I wanted were all gone. Oh, well! You can't win if you don't play.
Sheez there you go making sense! Stop itThey have a draw system in place and quotas in place for non residents on all units. Am I missing something as to why all the nonresidents can’t just be a random draw by unit? Seems like it would be easier for the hunters and the fish and game office.
I didn't look for deer. Just elk zones to hunt bulls in the southern half of the state. They were all gone by then!Jeez, you must of had insanely high expectations. I was 5300 and got my 3rd choice deer.
Yes, there are a few OTC options for nonresidents but it isn't anything like it was even 10 years ago. I could only dream of the tag opportunities nonresidents had 30 years ago.Plenty of OTC tags in several western states. We haven't officially seen the end of jack chit.
I had the same problem with the credit card not working until the 3 or 4th try. The website was so slow that the page just crashed on me. At least it didn't kick me out and I was eventually able to purchase my tag.what a $hit$show.
I was #329 in line so had my pick of tags. So that was great.
I had to pay for elk tag 3 times before I was actually given the archery tag and received confirmation numbers etc. They literally hit my card all 3 times.
Also picked up a good archery whitetail tag where I hunted moose last year and was covered in deer.
I think that the Res & Non Res needs to go to a draw. Way residents apply now than 20 years ago. Just my 10 Cents.funny last year when i said the same thing about a NR draw pretty much every response was flaming me. figured a couple cycles of this will get the masses to see some logic
All good until you want to apply for a state other than your resident tag in Idaho!I think they should leave it as is. I love the nonresident whine fest every year. “All the nonresident tags sold out in 2 hrs” as there are tags available into February and March. It’s kinda fun ?
Only a cuck would get this much joy out of watching someone else get screwed....?I think they should leave it as is. I love the nonresident whine fest every year. “All the nonresident tags sold out in 2 hrs” as there are tags available into February and March. It’s kinda fun ?
True, but if you believe all of the whiners none of those 200,000 pinko commie Kalifornians hunt or support gun ownership or the constitution etc.....Ironically
Arizona has had a much worse system than Idaho for many years.Lol
Idaho is just catching up because we have picked up another 200,000 new residents.
The old days are over.
I wouldn't be opposed to limiting residents to one species in the controlled hunt application too and double the resident cost of license, application and tag. Might be a way to improve draw odds while maintaining revenue.I would also not be opposed to limiting nonresidents to applying for one species per year.
Exactly, except I think the odds for controlled hunts have gotten even worst or will this year. Now that all these people have a license, why would they not at least try for a controlled hunt for an extra $10 or so, one of the ways Idaho kept some non residents from applying for a controlled hunt was they had to buy a license. I love the state of Idaho, but this is one thing they have just screwed up.I certainly don't like the idea of Idaho moving closer to a draw for everything. But the nonresident issue is already a draw, and seems to be pretty inefficient.
So let's drop the nonresident quotas per unit down to a round number (if a unit currently has 57 nonresident tags allocated, drop it to 50) and make it a controlled hunt for nonresidents.
That way we get all of the nonresident controlled hunt application fees, the nonresidents stop whining, and the actual controlled hunts (anything not a general season for us residents) would have better odds.
Right now, with all nonres tags selling out, we are losing application fee revenue, and our odds for controlled hunts don't even improve.
Seems like a pretty easy decision at this point.
I would also not be opposed to limiting nonresidents to applying for one species per year.
i sincerely do not believe a resident tag will ever be a draw in Idaho. the management strategy (if you want to call it that) is not for quality its for opportunity. that's real easy to see in units like 40 that theirs been lots of threads about on here. you could easily make that premier unit by shutting it down. never happen, its right by town, guys want to shoot 2 points in there and there will always be a general season.
NR should and will be a draw. limit to single species a year with a one year waiting period if they draw i think is a fantastic idea. take it evern further and if you draw a general season tag you cant put in for controlled hunts and bang NR just got better odds for there share of draw tags. Idahos been the western states hunting whore for everyone that doesn't live here and it needs to change
