Great Draw !!! Look at your map and anywhere in the unit with the name mesa attached will have buffalo on it --- at one time or another. Cover a lot of country looking for fresh tracks. Then follow them up. The DWR website should be able to tell you whether or not the cow hunts are going on. After the shooting starts on the other hunts the DWR will not have any specific information so I wouldn't worry to much about a phone call. Take an extra spare time, some chains, and a lot of gas and water, and enjoy a beautiful part of the state and a unique hunt. If it rains those mountains can get nasty. Good luck, this can be a very difficult hunt.
