LAST EDITED ON Oct-12-06 AT 07:24AM (MST)[p]This year we did not see any nice bucks in our normal areas. My normal hunting buddy and I came up empty handed but my younger cousin came in this year and took his first buck.
He came into camp and tried to get on this buck within the first 30 minutes but we lost our light & it just didn't quite work out. The next morning he snuck down on this buck and took two shots with the muzz. He missed but the angle was very very steep so he moved in closer for a shot. He had to make it down a steep area to get a better shot but somehow he managed to do it without spooking the buck. The buck was still there after 2 shots and the move down to a better spot. I was above him on the mountain and watched as the third shot toppled over the buck. He had a tough shot and an even tougher stalk on the buck. He was pretty pumped but I think we were all just as happy for him. What an awesome experience.
It was more fun to watch him take that buck than to take one myself! The weather was wonderful. The company was awesome. The terrain is incredible. We are blessed to live in such a great place with these fantastic opportunities. The pictures follow:
Here is a buck we saw the night before...
Here he is with his 4x2
Here is my cousin & his father.
A scenic picture of a very old, dead, limber pine in the area.
Here is camp.....
Here is my cousin & his proud papa.
Here are four of us ready to hike out. He is on the left with his bucks rack strapped to the top of his pack. The fifth guy is taking the picture.
