You have never seen a black Buck, only in Utah

That’s a rarity….a collectors edition. Shot during fire season back in 2020. There was a few burn victims running around back then that needed to be put down

I remember reading an article when I was a kid about black bucks in Modoc County CA..there was some weird pigment thing going on ..I think it was in the 50s or 60s ..besides that I’ve never seen such a thing. what a trip..might just be bad taxidermy ha ha

I'll have to hunt it down but about 15 years ago I got some trailcam pics of a raghorn bull elk that looked like that. Melanistic is the proper term for that condition.

Found 'em--actually 13 years ago. Same bull, pics taken 26 days apart.

Seen a pure white black tail buck. I shot a pure black dove a couple years ago, never have seen one in 50 years of dove hunting.

I actually saw a 340 class completely black elk in Colorado last year. It was really cool looking. Not mud caked but actually black color.

I saw the black buck in Moab 2 times…

Hunted in Oregon 25 years ago with a couple of buddies one of them shot a big fork that was solid black. Pretty crazy to walk up on a buck like that
