We all make dumb mistakes!
I was elk scouting a couple years ago and had the tripod and spotter set up on the quad box. In my excitement, I drove off and dumped the whole thing in the dirt. As I raced back to get it, I was thinking that I hope the tripod was okay. The scope was a junker, the tripod is a good one. All's well that ends well.
I hope you have it returned by someone. I think most guys would if they can identify who's it is.

I once did a similar trick as Zeke, and left a scope and pack as I rushed on my wheeler to another ridge to spot. When I went back it was gone.
BUT there was a silver lining. I then had a great excuse to upgrade to the scope I really wanted. So I did.
So in that scenario YOU ARE A WINNER!!!

Last year I lost my landing net off the back of my kayak because it wasn't leashed. The worst part was I had to stop fishing because it's required to have a landing net when fishing for a species with a minimum size. I did the paddle of shame back to port.
