Took me 18 years of applying just to get a depredation tag! Anyhow, my help had to bail on me so if anyone else is here and wants to team up tomorrow let me know. I'm off through Wednesday if necessary but hopefully luck is on my side!

Ryan

Thanks guys!
Today was a success and it's a good thing too cause I don't think I had it in me to do today again tomorrow. Fingers crossed for billy tag!

Ryan

Much congrats--but if you draw that billy tag before me, I don't think we can be friends anymore... ;-)

Congrats.

One thing to point out to you and other depredation hunters: The odds of getting the billy incentive tag is actually quite low.

50 tags in the standard draw F-IM hunt and approximatly 250 in the depredation hunts over 4 weekends. Say roughly half are successful, that puts odds of the billy tag at 1 out of 150 or less than 1%. Even if only 30% are successful that's 1%. Basically the same as drawing a billy tag in the standard draw process.

I get that it's still a chance, but I hear a lot of guys saying they are pumped to kill a nanny with their sole motivation being a chance at a billy tag.

Enjoy the nanny hunt for what it is, because practically speaking there isn't much chance of drawing the incentive billy.

I've said it before, but I don't understand why G&F is trying to whack the nannies (reduce population). We have a species that's doing pretty well and nothing else lives in the Floridas, so why kill them off? Pretty soon the number of coveted draw tags will have to be reduced...and nobody will be happy about that.

Haha that was awesome bugle!
Any additional chance I can get I'll take cause now I know how tough that mountain is and I'm not getting any younger. You better believe I enjoyed that hunt! It was only a day but it wasn't easy it was a well earned trophy and this little nanny is going on the wall with a place reserved next to it. Gonna smoke the meat with some ribs tomorrow.
Mozey, we still got work to do on that other thing but if you draw the billy tag before me I'm here to be your pack mule!

Congrats Ryan on the harvest!

My Dad just got called for this depredation hunt next weekend! He's 67 years old, so not sure how he will do but he wants to give it a shot since he's been trying to get a tag for 20 years! I'll be with him the entire time and will be carrying the load. Iv'e never set foot on the rock, so and pointers will be great appreciated.

Thanks,
Travis

Haha. But doesn't it give you an extra chance even if sucks for odds, so u could potentially draw 2 billy tags? Or am I wrong? I just got called today for a tag.

Lots of good calls going around for folks lately!
Pm me I have a plan I think your dad could do easily. Happy to help anyone I can. Good luck!

Talked to the game and fish, said that they are doing 3 to 4 hunts and the population is over 1000 animals and they want them knocked down to 750. If they get over populated then ibex will leave the rock and go where game and fish don't want them to go.

I had to do some work to make this presentable. The rest was pretty destroyed. Was dead on its feet so I kept shooting till it fell.
