Thanks very much for all the congrats & your right I couldn't be happier with this bull. He scored just over 377". I did a lot of research and had some awesome information from some great people that live in the area. I went into the unit a week early to scout and locate elk and it paid big divedends. I saw around 45-50 bulls with about 15 of these being 6 point bulls. I located this bull on Thursday morning and knew immediately he was worth going after. Thursday night and Friday morning were both failed attempts, however I located him once again on Friday evening just before the sun was setting. There was a good reason this bull had survived several hunting seasons, he was in a hole. He was probably only 1/2 a mile from where I originally found him.
The opening day plan was now set, I was going to come down above the bulls (there were 6 in this group total). After spending most of the morning chasing the wrong elk around we finally zeroed in on the right group and started to stalk in. We were looking at 2 six point bulls at about 350 yards away and just couldn't make the bigger of the two grow up, after examining them for about 15 minutes dad & I made a move about 50 yards farther down the drainage. Once here we could see more of the bulls and when I put my glasses on this guy, right away I knew that was the one I had been looking for. Several shots later dad & I were celebrating like two kids on Christmas day.
He is a beautiful bull with everything that I had hoped for. Once again this was a team effort with dad, Mick & Gary there to help with the dirty work.
