As some of you know I have been planning a trip wherein I will be gone for 4 - 5 months. Well, those plans are now final. We are leaving this Saturday morning (4/6) and won't be back, God willing, until the end of July or the first of August.
Here's what we are doing: A friend of mine and I are taking a pack trip from Ennis, MT to Northern British Columbia. We are each riding a mule and taking three more mules (each)that are packing all our gear. We will be trying to replicate 2 mountain men attempting the same trip during the 1830's. Because of that we are not taking anything that wasn't in the Rockies during that time period. We will be dressed just as the mountain men were, and live with the same conditions they lived with. No cell phones, no laptops, no propane stoves (yeah), no inlines; nothing. We have a support crew that will rendezvous with us every 2 weeks in case there are any medical issues.
What this all boils down to is this: I will not be monitoring the forum during this time. We have such a great group of guys here on the forum that I'm sure if you have any questions you will get reliable, and usable, answers.
I'm going to keep a journal and hopefully it will be complete enough so that when I get back I should be able to write a book about our experiences.
Have a great spring and summer, and "May the Good Lord take a likin' to ya!"
