Glad you were able to hang out with your Pops and enjoyed some laughs. For years we saw antelope everywhere and always put in for that area. Dad finally drew and it was pretty disappointing. We had to work hard to see any. Talked with biologists and wardens and no one could really answer what the deal was. Dad was very sick and had multiple issues and getting him in position was very tough. We could have tagged out a couple of times if he wasn’t so sick. It ended being his last hunt so I’m glad we gave it a try and still had some laughs. I think you can still do ok, just not like it was just a few years back.
Just got back from likely and the goats are gone. Not sure how anyone in period 2 can kill a goat let alone period 1. Unreal they still issued 45 tags for each period. Biologist can’t explain where they went. The ranch only had 3 bucks on it and they all got killed. Pretty sad how that unit is now. Do not wast your points on it for a few years till something changes and the predators are under control. Heard there are a pack of 4 wolves and 22 mt lions were collars on the valley!

I’m sitting at 17 points I know I will draw one day just not sure how long. Crazy to think I have that many points and years toward an antelope. Did you go guided? Or diy? Do you think first period is better then second ? I have been applying for first every year .Hey this is my antelope from Likely Tables. I don’t post much on here but I do scroll through from time to time abs saw the picture of my goat. Just to let all you guys know, I just picked him up on Monday from the official B&C scorer and he scores 83 6/8” net B&C. My buddy looked him up and he will be #25 all time in California. Very fortunate and excited to take a goat of this caliber

Are you mad points for sheep? And do you plan on continuing to apply ?Yeah if you don’t have max points in California you’re sort of screwed. I had max points and got it. Thank god I did because this is my last year of hunting in California but I would’ve anyway continued to apply for antelope in California since I have already invested so many years into applying for a tag.
I went DIY. You don’t need a guide for California antelope but this was a tough year in the Likely Tables unit. Not many antelope spotted where we were hunting so a guide may have helped us spot more since he would know the area better than us but as you can see we did quite well. My buddy also killed a respectable goat.
I always apply for 1st period because I figured the antelope would be less spooky. The second season would have all the hunters from the first season chasing them around. Just my two cents. Good luck on your future hunts
