VA is not known for it's "massive" bucks and cannot really compete with the big buck states... But VA is where I call home and grew up hunting so when I took this guy I was pumped up...
I had seen a very large body deer on the edge of our the back corner of our property that last two years but could never get a clear view on a rack... Eventually after a few moves of the good ol' climber and 2 years of scouting he messed up on the 3rd day of VA Rifle season... Now he rests on my wall.
25 years of hunting Virginia and I always dreamed of a BC buck and fell short by a few inches... BC Score 157 1/4 (gross 161)
Took this cat the day before the buck pictured above... The cat was 31 lbs which is also pretty big for a pure bobcat any state you find them in. Usually to find them much larger they start to mix with the lynx. Anyway had no intention of popping him until he started dragging a smaller 6 pt buck i shot down a steep raven... Every foot he pulled him was another ft up a steep hill I had to drag so I put an end to it.
Live in Colorado now... And beginning to learn the hunting system... Hope to figure it out one day and be able to post elk, prong, bighorn, mtn goat, mule and maybe even a CO Whitetail photo for all to enjoy. Fellow CO resident any advice welcome
Have a great summer scouting and dreaming out the next hunting season!
