New laptop

I went to Staples to look at laptops. I found one I liked and on a impulse I decided to buy it. The salesman came over and tried to sell me an extended warranty, spill protection, blah, blah, blah. I listened to his speech, and acted like I was listening. When he finished I told him no. The computer has a 90 (maybe 60) day warranty and that should be good.

He took off to the back to get one and I didn't see him for like 15 minutes. Then I see him up front working the cash register. WTF?

I asked him if he had my computer? He avoided answering for a few minutes. Finally he spit it out. If I wasn't interested in the extended warranty, he wouldn't sell it to me.

Okayyyyy......"If you don't want to sell it to me I'll go order it on Amazon, no problem". and I walked out and did just that.

Never heard of that before.

What would be the point of having a computer then?

Eel maybe that extended warranty was how they made their profit margin. If so it would have been rip off to you.
My wife does a lot of shopping on Amazon, she says it saves her a lot time over shopping at different stores and she usually gets a better price and delivered to our door free of charge as she has the prime account.

RELH, Amazon has about 100 laptops to choose from. Lots of owner reviews, usually great prices, and no driving around burning fossil fuels. I'm all about my carbon footprint. :D

That's a guy working for wages! Never put an a hourly employee on a sales floor, they'll drive your cliental out the door and b!tch about the benefits package!!!

My wife got a laptop from Staples a couple of years ago. Almost the same experience. We did walk out of one location both because of customer service and they didn't have the model she wanted which was on sale (the reason she wanted it in the first place). They pimply faced kid just couldn't believe that she didn't want to be upsold to the newer model with more gigs and a better video/sound card and "major gaming capabilities", for only $650 more than we wanted to pay. Went across town and got the one she wanted but with a lot of hassle about the extended warranty. They even got the manager out there to try to sell it to us. Typical car lot techniques. That was about 5 years ago, she's still using the same laptop, no issues at all (except for some minor adware issues that we were able to scrub with Malwarebytes).

My Staples laptop is still going great after 4 years. I bought it online with free in store pickup. You can buy it online that way and the kid will have to go to the back room and get it for you.
