So is it worth buying a Orc bear tag for 62 3rd rifle season. Unless I'm misreading something there is a bear hunt Otc during that season. Was wondering populations and if there is much of a chance to kill one.

Bear is a total crap shoot in all of Colorado. The answer for me has always been yes, have a bear tag in your pocket because you never know when you will cross paths. That being said over the last 20 years I have had a tag in my pocket for the majority of years and only ever killed one bear. On the years I did not have a tag I always saw a bear.

If your a resident get the tag, if your a nonresident pass and focus on hunting the deer and elk. Also consider that third season is late and bear activity tends to be pretty low at that time with many already staying really close to dens etc. The majority of bears are usually killed on earlier hunts when there is wide spread feed and the bears are really ranging to put on weight.

Definitely agree with what ELKS69 said, bear activity in CO is low that time of year and depending on hunter pressure can be next to nothing. In all the 13 years I've hunted bears around the state I did not get to shoot one. I'm focusing on elk/deer if I can draw a tag.

Sweet thanks guys. I kinda figured that would be the case. So maybe if I am seeing one consistently I can go buy the tag during the hunt and kill it. But other than that don't bother.
Really appreciate the help!

There are a ton of bears in that unit but as a non res I just cant see paying as much as a bull tag.to hunt bear. If they were priced like the cow tag. I might think about it

I think they are 350$ dimiliar to deer tag.
Well if I'm seeing bears I'll run and grab a tag and try my luck.
