A good friend and neighbor has a daughter that has a band from Nashville, they performed earlier in the afternoon, and remained at the event, to enjoy the music of the other performers. They were, fortunately, standing next to the stage but on the opposite side of the shooter. After a wild effort to get out of the venue they took shelter in a Airport hanger, without injury. At the time they had no idea what had happened because they didn't waste a second getting away from the stage, when the shooting started and had no TV or radio communication until after 3:00 a.m., when they were released to leave. Still have their instruments in their rented van, which is still under lock down at the venue location.
My buddy and his wife had been there to see there daughter perform but had grown tired, after standing all afternoon/evening and, thankfully, left an hour before the shooting started.
They are very grateful to law enforcement and all the first responders that were heroic in getting them out safely. So happy they are safe tonight and pray for those who are still clinging to life, as well as the many others that were wounded by gun shots or otherwise. My deepest sympathies to all those families who lost a loved one last night.
What a tragic waste of life and so pointless, when all is said, and all is done.
God Bless America
