Well the MM community and the whole wide world lost one of it's best individuals yesterday to a terrible car wreck.

Ivan Mott was a great man, a wonderful father and loving husband. He and I have been friends since we were in our early teens and he was my very first hunting buddy outside of my family. I have a lot of great memories of hunting pheasants, quail, rabbits, and raccoons (well, we tried!!)and fishing with him on Ashley Creek in Vernal, Utah.

After High School, life took us in different paths and even though it had been more than 25 years since we had seen each other, thanks for MM and Facebook we have been able to remain close and he and I have had several conversations over the past few years about family, hunting, politics, religion, and life in general. When you talked to Ivan, you knew you would walk away from the conversation with a smile.

My heart is breaking right now for his family, their loss is great!! I ask that we all keep them in our thoughts and prayers. They will need them.

I will miss my friend.

Sad news indeed. Prayers out to the family. Just met UGA on the website. Was always friendly and helpful.

I didn't know UGAHunter, but I did a quick search of his posts and seemed like such a good guy. Knowing the time I have spent chasing bears in Idaho and seeing his posts from this spring with his family made me sad. Hope him and his family can overcome.

Thanks for this Roy. It always hurts to lose a friend. My thoughts and prayers are with you and his family. Hopefully Jonathan Mott is recovering well.

Sorry to hear this, condolences to his family, and you. Enjoyed his posts on here. And I have dealt with this very thing. Thanks for sharing Roy. RIP Lil Bro' "Huntnfever"

Sorry for your loss old friends are really hard to replace and they seem to know you better than everyone else and understand you better as well

Ivan Weston Mott

Ivan Weston Mott, 44, died unexpectedly from injuries sustained in a car accident Oct. 24, 2016. He was born May 23, 1972, in Ogden, Utah, to Niles and Connie Wardell Mott. He was the fifth of six children. The family moved to Naples, Utah, when Ivan was 2. Ivan achieved the rank of Eagle Scout at age 13. He graduated from Uintah High School. He served in the England Leeds Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He married the love of his life, Jennifer Lee Gardner, in 1994 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He always loved birds and raised a variety of them. He was an avid hunter, skilled taxidermist and an accomplished violinist. He has always had a great love for music, bacon, and wood working. He was passionate about spending time with family.
He brought genuine joy into the lives of all who knew him. He frequently burst into song and could cheer up any gloomy heart. He was the life of the party and always had a positive attitude. He was active in the LDS Church and served in many callings, including high councilor in the Preston Idaho South Stake.
He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Lee Gardner; three children, Jonathan Ivan, Emily Anne, Ethan Reed, parents, siblings Vance (Sherrie) of Vernal, Utah, Mark (Ruth Ann) of Erda, Utah, Michelle Wise (Kent) of Bountiful, Utah, Marion (Tammy) of Herriman, Utah, and Nicole Simper (Shane) of Clearfield, Utah; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews; Jennifer's parents, two brothers and four sisters.

Center St., Weston, and Saturday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., also at the church. Interment will be at the Weston Cemetery.

Ivan lived a great life and accomplished a great deal. RIP Prayers for family.

LAST EDITED ON Oct-28-16 AT 09:04AM (MST)[p]Sorry to hear this news. I never met Ivan in person but he helped me through MM. He represented the best of us. Specifically, he helped me out with back-up spots when I drew a controlled hunt in Idaho last year. Before that, he saved me a big pile of money with advice on a moose tag I was considering. Really nice guy. Was happy to see his daughter shot a bull with his help. By all accounts he Made the memories when it counted.

It might be a little late, but Ivan was my neighbor and I haven't been taking his loss very well. He was the nicest guy I've ever met and the best taxidermist too. He gave me major discounts on my elk and 2 lions. I was planning on many more from him. Guess I'm back to boiling the skulls. Lost almost all my motivation to get a nice trophy Muley shoulder mounted on the wall. Sure glad to see his boys are taking it well. You can tell he was a great father.
