Gonna go on an archery antelope hunt. We will be sitting in blinds over waterholes.
Might buy a nikon 3200 camera. A couple questions?
if i use a 200 mm lens will there be good close up shots if the antelope are out to 60 yards?
Will the shutter noise be loud enough to spook weary antelope?
Thank you for advice

a 200mm will work ok out to 60 yards.

shutter noise will have their heads up and looking at you instantly.

you need a cam with a silent shutter. something like a Panasonic G6 (https://vimeo.com/90916591) or a Panasonic GH4 (https://vimeo.com/116448341) have a perfectly silent mode because they don't have a mirror to flip out of the way like the D3200.

Don't get me wrong, the D3200 is a great cam, but it can never be truly silent for that type of blind work when taking sills.

There are a lot of cams that can go into silent or electronic shutter, but the Panasonics like those dslm's or the newest LX100 or FZ1000 shoot some of the most amazing video on top of very decent stills.

Check out the G6 or a GX7 and with a 100-300 zoom you will have an unbelievable tool to do it all with that no mirror silent shutter that is so valuable when in the blind. It's just something the Canon and Nikon DSLR's can't do.

Cheers,
Pete
