Are salt blocks legal to use for deer? Can they be used as an attractant for trail cam pictures? I know in Arizona they are legal but i'm not sure about Idaho. Thanks

Not a chance. Unless you are hunting a block set out for cattle. Then it's tough to prove. But never heard of deer coming in to a cattle block.

This is true. A salt block can only be placed by a owner of livestock for the purpose of livestock. If a hunter plants a block of salt they are baiting and that is illegal. Ron

Used to be legal, but now it's not. They don't come to regular cattle blocks very well, but will absolutely destroy a salt lick made from natural rock salt. Works good for up at the cabin, or pictures on a trail cam but I wouldn't hunt over one anymore. Used to dig a hole about 3 feet deep, put in 20# of natural salt and a 5 gallon pail of water, and in two weeks the hole would be the size of your living room!!!!!!!!!
