Oooooh I get it now. So no matter what the law is, what policy is, what Burbank says, what the dog did, it is only the world as it exists in your mind what happens. Got it. But before we get dramatic in the us vs them, cop vs citizen game, lest we forget,,OJ was golfing in Florida when news evidence pretty clearly suggested he killed his wife. That's the way it works. This nation is built on the rule of law. What outsiders don't see, is cops, in a certain aspect are much more subject to a certain double jeopardy than a citizen and rightfully so because where much is given much is expected. Let the system work and drop the mob nonsense.

I saw less outrage last winter when Sgt. Corey Wride was shot in the face in cold blood during what originated as a citizen assist incident....the same citizen who would minutes later shoot him in the face, premeditated in cold blood. Cops get killed in cold blood felonious assaults nearly weekly. It doesn't get this much attention so I can only suppose an"pig"father, husband, brother, son, has less legal standing fOr life than a dog in case you wonder why in personally find the term offensive.

Doesn't matter to me for a couple of reasons.

First, the cop was unprepared to responsibly handle
The situation he put himself without using deadly force
As his first and only resort. Regardless of what
The dog did the cop had other options. OC spray,
Baton or a boot would have probably sufficed. We are talking
A weimeraner, not pitbull, Rottweiler or even German shepherd
Here. Where I bowhunt the place is covered with Great Pyrenees
Sheep dogs patrolling the herds. These dogs are anything but friendly
And on more than one occasion I've had them back me down
A trail. Never once did I have the thought to kill the dog. First off
It ain't my dog and secondly I am smarter than the damn dog.

Secondly, the cop destroyed private property while on private property.
Should he have been there in the first place is debatable. Regardless
If his first responsibility was to himself and not that private property
He not mentally capable to make any further decisions. If his thought process
Didn't include the possibility of dealing with a dog when he unlatched the
Gate and made entry he, again isn't mentally capable to be employed in that
Line of work.
Think what ya will about my opinion on this, the cop was wrong.

1- he was in a fenced property minding his his business and not on the loose.
2- the cop had no business without consent.
3- so it was wrong period.

4- would be different if someone had seen the boy in that yard getting attacked.

That's it period. The cop needs 5-30 days without pay. And he should have to pay for a new dog.

That wasn't Bess. Clearly you did not read this thread in its entirety. I am going to suggest once again this thread has outlived any useful purpose other than to polorize folks, hurt feelings, and make enemies. I therefore shall lock, not nuke.
