It finally happened. I drew a Southwest Desert Antelope rifle tag. I'm not familiar with the area and hoping that someone might point me to areas to start scouting. Anything to help me narrow down the area would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you've had atleast several years worth of time to go get familiar with the area and learn where the animals are and failed to do so... failure to plan, is planning to fail.

It's a very easy unit to find bucks. Litterally pick an area, find the flat land, or even the lower cedar hills. You will find antelope.
Maybe look hard at the wah wah valley

Antelope are spread out. Huge unit with decent population. Plenty of good bucks. West of Cedar City out by the wind mill guzzlers is a popular place. Water is the key. Especially during a drought year. They aren't always in the flats either. We found quite a few bedded under the Cedars. Good luck! Super fun hunt and one of the best tags in the state.
