I had to finally break down and end the month long hvac holiday turning on the furnace for the first time. Boy it always smells ripe thst first fire up of the year.

Yup, had ice on my windshield yesterday and today.

Had the chimney sweep do his thing about 2 weeks ago.

Just got an email this morning which said the boilers won't be fired up at work until the next cold temp drop. Nice. 65 year old cinderblock building, I think the only insulation is concrete.
 
Eel, that wood is too darn pretty to burn. Must be nice to have connections at the mill. We used to have a large gunstock manufacture in our area. I was able to fill up a pickup bed of walnut for 7 bucks. This was in the 70's and the wife and I burned a lot of walnut in our fireplace to save on the heating bill.
