We saw this buck on opening day at about 1 mile, but could not tell how big he was, so we did not go after him. My hunting partner saw him again on Thursday night at close range, but he already had a buck down.
We went out Friday morning and saw him following a doe through a field. After walking in a few hundred yards, we saw his antlers sticking up over a rise. He was in a small slough with the doe. Using some small hills for cover we were able to close to within 200 yards. After some final positioning to get a good clear view, one shot put him down for good.
A quick and rough score puts him just over 150" gross. He is my best whitetail to date.
This was a great end to a very rewarding season.
