We filled our NR elk tags. My buddy got a good 6x6, I shot a smaller 5 on the 4th day of the hunt after going after the big one several times. Saw a couple really good bulls but most good ones in the low 3's. This was not an easy hunt, beat our bodies and equipment into a pulp. We were into shooter bulls every scouting day we had, we had 4 full scouting days, had to do the 3 hour round trip to town TWICE for battery issues on the truck and then the rented RV. Best bull we heard killed was by Beaverhead farther west - 380, but they were using horses on the west side.
Saw some great asshattery too, but I'll leave that for a discussion later.
Anyway, all the R's we met were very friendly and helpful. Special thanks goes out the manager of the Garcia camp at the Adobe ranch for helping us with the truck.
Weather got squirrely one day but cooperated mostly the rest of the time. Thanks to everyone in the great state of New Mexico for hosting us!
