If you are running the country and you have over 10% unemployment, is it a good idea to go to asia for a town hall meeting?



If you ask me, no. But, I guess this presedent gets a pass no matter how bad it gets or how strange his actions seem. He is more intent on building his own world image.


This experiment is going very badly, for the American people.

Will the people wake up and start to demand action for the good of the people?
 
IMHO it's too late for people to wake up to this POTUS. He gets a free pass in everything he does by blaming Bush for the debacle that is our country. He will cram healthcare down our throats and blame the previous administration's lack of action for the reason health care is a mess. He will waste lives and resources in Afghanistan and say that the previous administration's lack of stategic planning made the war a failure. He will impose Cap and Trade and say that our greed and lack of environmental fortitude has led to the warming of the earth and the previous administration did nothing to stop it. He will spend more money than all previous presidents combined and say that he had to because the previous administration brought forth this economic disaster and spending money is the only way to fix it. He will bow to the world's leaders and apologize to them for America's greed and hatred. He will say that GWB made the world hate us. He will travel the world more than any other president (vacationing) claiming he is doing damage control brought about by the previous administration.

Meanwhile, while he does all of this, we will suffer and the liberal mindset that has become rampant will continue. All of America will eventually become one big California. Broke, stoned and clinging to the big government titty!

A good use of his time would be to stimulate employement, this trip has little to do with stimulation of Amreican employment.

Stimulous package has little to do with getting us to work.

Health Care bill's have little to do with getting us to work.

Cap and tax has to do with making sure we are working less.

Sounds like you should be president. Sounds like anyone else should have been president starting in 2000 and we wouldn't be in this predickerment.
 
What should Obama do, stay at home and hire a gardener? The stimulas has to do with getting people to work, Affordable health care could play a huge part in making this country competitive in the global economy, therefore putting people to work. I sure didn't hear the right complaining about borrowing billions so we could have unaffordable tax cuts during the last administration. Zigga is right, a different outcome in 2000 would have saved us, actually I think a different outcome in 2004 would have done the job.

He (obama) has the power to stop those tax cuts, but he hasn't.

Look at California, it has the highest of taxes and is still broke.

It has to do with spending.

So, if we borrow X it is bad, but X times 10 is fine. You make no sense.

The data shows the stimulous has done almost zero. It has increased our borrowing. It was borring to pay off certain people, pure and simple, the Chicago way.

The point is, what can be changed (what is going on now), is going very poorly.

And while that happens, our president is traveling the world working on his image in other countries.

The most traveled president ever, all at a time of great pain for the people.
 
What we have now is the biggest of tax cuts. That is no jobs, no income, and no taxes.

I think you (obama and obama lovers) should focus on what makes the taxes you so much need.

Why does Obama have such little sense of urgency?

If it was affordable health care they wanted, wouldn't they put togethere bills that brought about affordable healthcare.

needabrain what should Obama do to make everything sweet like you expect? if it's that easy to fix why didn't Bush do it so McCain would have had a chance? maybe it isn't as easy as you think? maybe?

The point is asia is VERY economically important to us, I don't like it one bit but the reality is we are in their debt big time and it started way before Obama so act like you have some common sense. if asia pulled the rug out from under us you'd be bowing to them for a dime yourself, be glad someone you hate is doing the butt kissing for you.

He might be over there fixing it for them, but you need to make a case for him fixing it for us by being in Asia.

4x4- Obama is right about this, health care is going to kill us. Its congress and our political system thats to blame for spending and not coming up with savings on health care. The pentagon figures 1 million per year per soldier on overseas deployment, do the math,overall government employees make close to twice as much money per year as private employees, I have heard the drug war costs two hundred to four hundred billion per year, we have around 7 times as many people per capita in prison as Canada or England, it goes on and on. There are a lot of politically untouchable big spending programs we need to pay for, and unless we do, the people will not put pressure on our political leaders to control the insanity, its the credit card syndrome. It was a huge mistake to borrow so much during good times, and that contributed to this economic disaster. Right now the economy needs to recover somewhat before much can be done, its just too bad the right was silent when things could have been done to prevent this mess.
 
Needabrain how do you figure we hold the hammer over asia? we're broke and asia owns a good chunk of our debt, duh. if they don't loan us the money to buy their crap where will both the money and the crap come from? hell our navy uniforms are made in china.

China is or will soon be the major player in the world, if you think we're still number one you've been watching too much vintage tv. our president talking to our creditors is not a sin, the fact we're becoming their biatch is and that started long before Obama so grow up.

It reported that during BO's meeting China wanted to know how the U.S. (meaning us) were going to pay for the healthcare bill See the link non believers.

It was also reported that BO got NO concessions.

China already held a trillion dollars of US debt in January but now own over 2 Trillion. They are very concerned about being repaid.

If spending got the US (meaning us) into trouble why then are we taking on so much more to bail out bankers . AND start another government program like health care?

We just got through with the Bush (right wing) experiment, and it had time to show us the results, just great I might say, just great.
 
Just stop bickering and vote out the Bush RINO spenders and all of the liberal democrats next year. The POTUS can't spend a nickel without congress so the problem lies there. Congress under the democrats spent and are spending like drunken thieves. Pull Pelosi's teeth and nullify Barney Franks, Chris Dodd and the rest of the clowns that pushed low interest loans to people who had no income. As for China we were sold out by both parties for the sake of higher Wall Street profits. China won't let us default but they will make our lives miserable until we give tax breaks to manufacturers who agree to make products here instead of in China, Mexico and India. The health care bills are just a way to make insurance companies more money and line the pockets of politicians. No tort reform, no antitrust changes so no change other than new customers for an industry that should be eliminated. We will get through this by voting en masse against lifetime politicians that are corrupt. Obama can get on his knees for other leaders all he wants. He is going to be a one termer after people realize he spent the nations wealth and created zero jobs. It is the economy, stupid.

So, anyway. The discussion is about the actions taken by Obama. These actions have added to above mentioned debt more than the 8 years of actions by the president before Obama. From the statistics already talked about, the actions of the previous president clearly went to jobs for Americans.

His actions (obamas) are very expensive and have created or saved almost zero jobs.

The same can be said about his proposed actions on health care and cap and tax.

You can go on an on and try to drag the discussion back to Bush all you want. Obamas actions and proposed actions are bad if you want a job and you are American.

Adding government jobs doesn't do it for us. These jobs only add to the problem he talks about above.
 
So excatly how should he fix it? we've sent most of our manufacturing overseas and we import about everything we buy, factor in the fact we're broke and I see a problem here.

Dude-when are you going to stop supporting Obama and the democrats in congress? He said give me $784 billion and I will cap unemployment at 8%. They control the spending for the last three years and you still act like it was all the fault of Bush. And if you are going to compare unemployment numbers under Reagan then you have to allow for the government changing the formula after Reagan. Even the officials now admit that you can double the current rate to match the old formula. Obama and congress need to support small business and stop lying about new government jobs turning around the economy. They add zero to the recovery. You think raising healthcare costs and energy costs will help small business and create a bunch of new jobs?

Give a trillion dollars or so in top end tax cuts, promote speculation, and let the big money boys drive the cost of living through the roof, then they can give the CEOs a big bonus and take the jobs overseas, great policy, and thats what happened under Bush. Read about what happened when FDR decided it was time to slash government spending in the late 30s, unemployment jumped from 14% to 19% right away. I hate the deficit spending and always have, but this is a big mess and they better be careful, and if the rightwing wants credibility, maybe they should try being honest.
 
I will say for the 100th time it is more of a spending problem than a tax cut problem.

I have never said Obama is dumb.

My opinion is he thinks it is better (for the people) to be told by the government how to behave than it is to be free. My opinion is he would rather make sure we earn less and use less, than give us the freedom to make our own choices. My opinion is he would rather you pay for your brother to have health insurance and for you to pay more for your own health insurance.

He should do what he says, go line by line. He should do what he says, not sign any bill that adds to the deficit.

His actions do not match his words.

OK that's all fine, but what about reality? how do we live with 10-20% increases in health care premiums every year? how do we double the debt in good times and freeze spending in the worst recession in our lifetime? how do we recover when so much of our job base has skipped the ocean to cheaper labor?

What you're saying makes sense but the reality is we're in trouble, we've been sliding into more trouble for years, and you can take it out on Obama this time and put your man into the same poo pile in 2012 and he'll be the one taking the fall in 2016 for not having it fixed. if all we're going to do is blame game politics we truly are screwed, NOBODY has the answers so at the very least blame Obama for the things he can control and not the near hopeless mess he walked into.
 
Well. I think Obama had a chance to be the president he told us he would be. You know the one who represented everyone and would do the right thing, not just the party line thing.

And I gave him the benefit of having the chance to do just what he said.

However, he has not done what he said.

He bows to pelosi and reid, period. He won't even ask them to do things that are for the best of the country. Obama has great power, but will not use it for our good. He is playing the political game.

He told the nation he would be different, and that was not true.

Were you not wondering what in the world was going on, when they wouldn't even take a week to go over the stimulous bill and passed it on the weekend? This was just days after Obama re-stated his promiss to go line by line through our budget.

If we are really broke as you continually say we are, then shouldn't we shut down all the wars we are fighting? Shouldn't we stop paying for illegals to have babies that we then call citizens? Do we really need to pay all the cost for civilian trials for folks who already admitted guilt? Wouldn't tort reform help ease the increase in our medical premiums? do we solve the mortgage problems by reducing existing loans for people who shouldn't have gotten the initial loan but make it harder for people who should get loans to get them?

There are many things we can do to make things easier on ourselves.

Obama did not tell us the truth. His actions are of a politician our for himself and no body but himself. He is not a reformer, he is and his actions reflect that of a hard leftist.

Instead of doing the smart things, we have 2000 page bills that build massive multi-level government agencies that you and I both know will be about as easy to work with as your average government agency and filled with waste and corruption.

On top of that, he would not say a word if this and other bills were passed in the middle of the night on the weekend.

This is the same guy who ran on transparentcy.
 
I'm not going to argue that Obama hasn't been the second coming as his devout supporters expected, but did you? I sure didn't.

So how in this short time would he have fixed everything that's wrong? and how much cooperation do you really think he could get from the republicans? give me a break Obama's total failure is their only hope in the world for survival, they don't have a clue how to fix anything either and that's why I have no sympathy for them.

The point is he is not a bad person, and he's got a mess none of us would touch with a 10 ft pole on his plate with 99% of it there when he was sworn in. I'm not in any way saying he's doing a great job all I'm saying is it's very unfair by righties or by the idiots who thought he was majic to expect him to fix overnight a mess he didn't create.

I actually don't think we'll ever see the good times we've seen again the world is changing and it's not in our favor . Obama will most likely pay the political price for that but the reality is nothing he could do will change it. the next president whoever he may be will be screwed too, unless he takes us back to the days of fat and happy he'll get the blame, and I don't see much hope of that so Obama will be just one in a long line of scape goats is my prediction.

If it were Bush, this whole H1N1 thing would be getting blamed on him. Instead, it is almost not mentioned on the news.

Obama told us it was no problem when the folks down in mexico started passing way from h1n1. No need he said to close the boarders or make any provisions to limit the effects of H1N1 on the Amerians. Now, you can't even get a regular shot, much less get an H1N1 shot. And now American people are passing away. Not a peep from CBS, NBC, CNN, not a peep. Seems like Obama could have acted just a little more in the interest of my 3 year old and my 4 year old.

Much more Obama's fault than Katrina was Bush's fault.

Why do you spend so much time feeling sorry for Obama, he has it made as far as Presidents, nothing is his fault?

The news channels don't even explain the situration when it comes to H1N1.
 
I don't feel sorry for Obama, I think the expectations of him are unrealistic and the outright lies about him are cheap shots. as for what he's done positive other than improving our standing in the world I can't say much, on the other hand he hasn't done much bad either.

I'll turn the H1N1 back on you, what if we had a medical system not geared 100% for profit we would have more domestic capibility to produce the vaccine? the news had a hay day with it when it was at it's peak so I'm not sure what you're saying, it was like we were all toast in a matter of time. in reality there have been FAR more deaths to traffic accidents in my area than H1N1 and it was real bad here for a while, even if I could go to town and get a shot I wouldn't I just don't care.

the vaccine was being developed when Obama took office and production has been as fast as the contractors we've had for years could produce it. I'm not sure that Obama had much control over it but if he had proposed a plan build a public funded facility to produce more you and the drug companies would have both screamed like mashed cats. what should he have done?

If you wanted a regular shot (vaccine) or the h1n1, you couldn't get it without going through the government hoops.

So, just to clear you up, in your thought process, the government program (not my insurance company or a drug company) is putting my children at risk.

Obama made decision to not close our southern boarder and insisted there was nothing to worry about. No one says a word about it and the news won't even talk about the vaccine screw up.

I guess you don't have any real expectations about him protecting us americans for fear of offending Mexico.

Any expectation at this point would be to high. You don't understand, government health care sucks. You can't even admit it when a clear example is right there, you are just like the news networks.
 
+1 well said. 440, Obama might ought to have the Fed look into a Bretton Woods style of monetary policy which worked well up until the 70's. Many experts say that this would have brought us out of the recession and strengthened our dollar. Will he listen? Nope because his strategy is to print money to buy all the socialist programs that he wants disguised by a stimulus bill, health care reform, cap and trade etc.

The WHO has been working on this vaccine for a while and so has our government. it isn't as simple as a water painting , maybe it's Obama's fault we don't have a cure for cancer too? I don't know or care excatly who did what with the h1n1 vaccine but it's clear if it had been a serious situation we need to do better. so then, you scream you want the government out of health care then turn around and say it's their fault for not doing enough, more keep the government out of my medicare type logic is it?

If it was for profit then I could actually buy the regular flu shot for my kid. I can't because the Government screwed the situation up.

The people like Obama continually say stuff to get programs going. This programs cause problems because of waste and corruption. This flu issue is a classic reason to keep the government hands off health care.

If you can't see that and you continually want to blame the companies in drug and insurance business, then I suggest you go up to Canada and wait in the government line.

Have you ever dealth with Canada.. I have, took them three hours to issue five licenses to hunt geese.

The flu vaccine and the canadian hunting license are greatly similar.

I am not going on with this any further, have a great rest of the year.
 
How can you say it's not for profit? like most vaccines and medication our government pays to develop it and the the pharmaceutical companies make a killing. there are huge profits, my question is since the government has to find the cure should they have some ability to manufacture it? maybe maybe not it would probably be a wreck but let me be clear there is profit. if you want the government out of it should we do a no bid with Haliburton for the next vaccine we need? make up your mind.

For what it's worth Canada's supply of vaccine is better than ours, so maybe they're not as 3rd world as you think aye?

Maybe they could charge $100 or $250 then I could actually buy an H1N1 shot. Or the Canadian government could make some money by opening a clinic.

MASSIVE offshore drilling is the only way I see this county bailing its self out. and the "too big to fail" need to fail. (a bit late for that)Success comes with failure that's how this country was made. we are in the process of tearing it down, and its a slippery slope....flame away.
 
Massive offshore drilling? thats funny, do you know how many drill rigs are torn down and sitting in yards right now? and the permits are already issued. Unless you are ready to throw capitalism out the window, and have the government drill, its not going to happen, we can't drill our way out of this mess anyway. Talk about slippery slopes
 
True story, my buddy who works on the north slope drill rigs says they're doing zip exploration this winter. where is the drill baby drill at now? prices are too low ? what a joke we could be flooded in oil right now but the oils companies are protecting their profits and nobody even cares. now when the price goes up everyone will cry the government caused it, classic.

4x4 you sem to cry a lot about how the government held up your flu shot for a little while but you got it, and you got it cheap. who should be in charge of your flu shot if not the government? and are you going to pay the extra cost for the kajillion people who couldn't afford supply and demand prices you want so it would be a few days faster? can you prove it would have been faster? give us the solution you want.

I showed you it is not a profit item, but a very inexpensive item that your government screwed up and caused a shortage.

I would like all the shots, but there aren't any. So, I do not have the H1N1 shot. One of my kids has the H1n1 shot, but not the other. My wife only has the regular shot. Both my children got an initial H1N1 shot, but the government folks didn't tell us about the fine print, which is this is only half a dose. The other half is to be given in 30 days. Problem being there are no other doses.

We cannot get the other shots, it is not because of profit. It is because the government.

So, your questions make no sense. I am sorry you cannot understand.

It is not a question of a few days faster. There are no shots, people are passing away. The shots that come are given to those mandated by the government.

This is not difficult to understand. These items are not covered by CBS and NBC, because they want healthcare to pass soon, this news would be a death blow to this reform.
