TPS solid one piece base for Rem.700?

Hello all,

I just had a a question for you guys who have used the TPS solid bases, probably a dumb question too! So I recently purchased a Rem 700 in 270WSM and also purchased a used but like new Leupold 3.5x10x50 scope with TPS rings included. I just ordered and received in the mail my TPS matching one piece base.

My question is: This base is really heavy! I am used to 2 piece Leupold bases that are 4 times as light as the TPS base. Has anybody ever machined a one piece base into two pieces? The base seems like the heaviest part of the gun and there is 2.5" in the center that will not be used.

Probably not a good idea but just thought I would ask.

Order the aluminum rail. I love the tps rail and rings. Very well made and function great. Did you get a 20moa base or standard.

Look at DNZ bases they are pretty good.
