I know this seems like a rhetorical question, but there are so many options out there for new rifle calibers, how does someone decide what would be best for their individual needs? I have been doing a lot of reading and really like what the 6.5X284 has to offer. One of the negative arguments that is often brought up is that if a guy travels to a different state and discovers he needs more ammo, he isn't going to run to Wal-Mart and get another box. When taking that into consideration, I see nothing wrong with a 7mm Mag. I know I would be happy with either round. On the other hand, I shoot custom loads for my 300 win mag and have always taken more than enough ammo for any trip I have ever been on, running out of ammo has never been an issue for me.
What are your thoughts on whether the new calibers are worth pursuing, or if a well-tuned classic caliber is adequate?
I'll tell you who it was . . . it was that D@MN Sasquatch!
