unit 1 archery

I was lucky enough to draw a unit 1 archery tag. I'm trying to get down there to look around. would anyone have any advise as where i might start

I'm not trying to be a smart a$$ when I say just show up on opening day and start hunting. Unit 1 is every AZ elk hunters dream unit (at least every elk crazy nut I know). There is elk everywhere in that unit and that's no joke. Go up and do a little scouting before the opener and you'll see what I mean. Good luck & don't forget to take a bunch of pics to show us all.

I've been told that. But I've been told that on other hunts too.
So I try to keep my expectations on the level, but my mind goes crazy when I watch some of the videos the outfitters send. Anyway thank you so much for the info, I will post some pics when I return.

I have hunted there 9 years straight with Duwane Adams www.arizonabiggamehunting.com There are alot of elk in the unit, and lots of monsters. Have you thought about paying for a map service where a couple areas are outlined on the unit map with access directions? Anyway, this is a good way to cut down/narrow in your area if you dont have the scouting time in. Give Duwane a call. 520-385-4995.... Check the area around Mexican Hay Lake....Tons of elk in there! That unit is loaded.
