unit 53 elk

Hi to my fellow hunters my 17 year old cousion drew a rifle tag for 53 wondering if anyone had any advice for him this will be his first elk hunt so any info would be great. thanks

Lets see, Ive been up there bear hunting and can maybe give you a couple places to look into. Lots of elk. There are a few roads that head into the forest off of that 522 road that go from Taos to Questa, those are good. And if you get to Questa, take I think its road 38 towards Red River, well dont go to red river, stay staight and go up to an area called Midnight Meadows. Its past Cabresto lake, maybe called FR 134. Good areas all back in there. Hope I helped some. Good luck on the hunt!
