I don't know about archery season, but I have hunted unit 70 rifle several times. I have always seen "Ton's" of deer while hunting. If you want to hunt high, you can try the "Lone Cone
Peak" wildlife area. Be in great shape for this area, it is all up hill. If you do hunt this area, get an elk tag, it is loaded with 'em. Mid level areas would be walk-in wildlife areas along Disappointment Road which is of Hwy 141. These walk-in access points are well posted. This area is also the dividing line for unit 71. One side is unit 70, the other 71. Low areas would be Dry Creek Basin. This is a mix of private and state wildlife areas. With some good maps, this is fairly easy to navigate. This is an area that holds a ton of deer during the rifle season. It is mostly high sage with juniper pockets. The area we have had the most success is the mid-level points and Dry Creek Basin. Good Luck!
